This article will show you how to set up your Westnet email address in Mac Mail 10 and layout. The layout of Mac Mail typically doesn't change for mail settings as new versions are released, so you can also follow this guide for later versions of Mac Mail.

1. If you have another email account, send a test email to the email address you're setting up. Alternatively, ask a friend or family member to send you an email.
    
2. Open Mail with the icon in the dock at the bottom of the screen, or by searching for “Mail” in the Spotlight search bar in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
    
3. Click Mail in the top menu bar, and then select Accounts.
    
4. In the right-hand column, scroll down and click Add Other Account....
    
   
    
5. Select Mail account.
    
   
    
6. Enter the following details before clicking Sign In:

   Name: Your name as you’d like it to appear on the emails that you send.
   Email address: Your iiNet email address
   Password: Your iiNet email address password

   
    

7. Mail will attempt to automatically discover the settings for your email address. If any kind of error message pops up, click Continue to configure your account manually.
    
8. Enter the following settings before clicking Sign In. If your email address doesn't end in "@iinet.net.au", please see iiNet Group Email Settings.

   Email address: Your iiNet email address
   User name: Your iiNet email address without the "@iinet.net.au" domain (this can typically be left as the default 'Automatic')
   Password: Your iiNet email address password
    
   Account Type: IMAP (recommended) or POP
   Incoming Mail Server: mail.iinet.net.au
   Outgoing Mail Server: mail.iinet.net.au

   
    

9. If prompted, select the apps you want to use with your iiNet email account - naturally, you should always tick Mail before clicking Done.
    
   
    
10. Close the Accounts window to finish. If your test email arrives in your inbox and you can also successfuly send mail, you know your email account is up and running!
     
11. If you have any trouble, you may need to check your some settings. Click Mail in the top menu bar and then select Preferences.
     
12. In the popup window, click the Accounts tab and select your email address from the left-hand column. First of all, make sure Enable this account is ticked. You may also wish to check that all your other details were entered correctly when you set up the mailbox.
     
    
     
13. Next, click the Server Settings tab. On this page, make sure that Automatically manage connection port settings is ticked for both your Incoming and Outgoing mail server.

    Unlike previous version of Mac Mail, where these settings had to be entered manually, Mac Mail 10 has a new feature which will automatically try different port numbers for each email protocol (POP, IMAP,. SMTP), enabling or disabling TLS or SSL encryption, different authetication methods and using your email address with or without the domain name whenever an email account doesn't work. Once working settings are found, Mac Mail will keep them saved.

    
     
    

14. If you prefer to disable automatic management of connection port settings by unticking the boxes, these are the settings you'll need to enter manually:
     
    Port: 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP)
    Use SSL: Ticked
    Authentication: Password
     
    If these settings don't work for you, try port 143 (IMAP, Use SSL not ticked) or port 125 (POP, Use SSL not ticked) instead.
